Our intercessor the Holy Spirit.

Who is speaking?
This morning when I heard the sweet voice of the Holy Spirit. It came to mind how we have such a hard time trying to determine who is speaking to us. We struggle time and time again. Is it from from our God, or from the enemy? I have often struggled with this. I still struggle with it today.

You see, when we pray, we need to pray anticipating the Holy Spirit already knows what God has ready for your life. He is an all knowing God. He knew 37 years ago, that I would be starting this blog today. We need to be at a place where our only desire is to know God's will.
John 8:47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.

While doing the Experiencing God study. George Muller shared that he sought to know the will of God by the teaching of the Holy Spirit. Through the instrument of the Word of God. It always directed him rightly.
He also said if honesty of heart, and uprightness before God is lacking. Or we do not wait patiently upon God for instructions. Or we are getting counsel of fellow men to the declaration of the Living Word of God. You will make a great mistake, or if your not waiting on God. It can be disasterous.

Phillipians 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Here are some things that will help us to hear him speaking. We always KNOW when it is God speaking.
John 16:13
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. (ESV)

God will not lead us to something that contradicts his will. Wait on God till you have a word from him. Wait sincerely and patiently.

First we must die to self. Then come to a place where you are certain your only desire is to know God's will. Then check to see what the Holy Spirit is saying in other ways. Just ask yourself.
What is he saying to me in his word and in prayer? Do they agree?
Is he confirming it through circumstances?
Is he confirming it through the counsel of believers?

Get yourself a prayer journal to use during your quite time. When he speaks to you, write it down. So you do not forget it. You will be amazed at what he is telling you. I am always amazed.

Lastly, you WILL KNOW when GOD is speaking. There isnt a doubt when it is from him.

In Him,
Renee
